Borussia Dortmund would like to sign loan player Aaron Anselmino permanently. But patience will probably be required in the upcoming million-dollar poker game between BVB and Chelsea FC.

“Bild” reports on a secret plan in Dortmund involving Anselmino. This supposedly plans to let Chelsea falter until next summer in order not to drive up the transfer fee for the 20-year-old Argentine early on. Similar to the previous transfer period with Carney Chukwuemeka, BVB wants to strike late, but cheaper.

Ultimately, 20 million euros flowed to London for the 22-year-old midfielder. The purchase option in his loan contract was well over 30 million euros.

BVB does not have such an option with Anselmino. But: Sports director Sebastian Kehl announced the planned transfer attack on the defensive jewel to media representatives after the 2-1 win in the Bundesliga clash at Bayer Leverkusen.

“I’ll definitely have to pick up the phone in the next few days and call them. We have a very good connection with Chelsea FC,” said the long-time BVB captain.

Anselmino is under contract with the Blues until 2031 following his temporary loan spell with the Black and Yellows until the end of the season. Will there be a permanent move from the Premier League to the Bundesliga? “We hope that Aaron will stay, of course,” emphasized Kehl.

BVB: Niko Kovac “loves” Aaron Anselmino

Anselmino even shone as a goalscorer in Leverkusen. In the 41st minute he headed the ball into Bayer’s box after a free kick. BVB led, Karim Adeyemi later increased the lead to 2-0 (65′), Christian Kofane’s goal (83′) came too late.

Anselmino is “a professional through and through,” enthused BVB coach Niko Kovac on “Sky” after the game. “I love players like that.”

Despite his goal, Anselmino’s core competence stood out. “Defending should be number one – and he does it excellently,” said Kovac.
