BVB keeper Gregor Kobel has “champion title always on his mind”

After six wins from the last six Bundesliga games, BVB is back in the fight for the championship. Gregor Kobel played a decisive role in Dortmund’s high-altitude flight. The keeper has now spoken about the title in an interview and reacted to the transfer rumors of the past few weeks.

Before the World Cup break, Borussia Dortmund was still in a disappointing sixth place in the Bundesliga table. Nine points separated BVB from leaders FC Bayern at this point. Even qualification for the Champions League seemed threatened.

But then the Westphalians turned up the heat: Edin Terzic’s team recently recorded eight wins from eight games. With a perfect start to the new year, BVB has moved up to second place and is already level on points with Munich. Borussia keeper Gregor Kobel, who believes he has a realistic chance of winning the title, has also made a major contribution to the success of the past few weeks.

“When you play at Dortmund, the championship is always an issue. You play football – especially at a club like this – because of course you want to win titles. That’s why the championship title is always on your mind,” said the Swiss in an interview with “Sky”. and added: “Of course there have been times when the score wasn’t that realistic. Now we’ve won eight games and we’re back in action.”

BVB keeper “does not deal with rumors”

With his strong performances this season, the Swiss has already captured one or the other point for the runners-up. He is currently playing “definitely” at his best level, he explained. With his parades, Kobel is said to have drawn the attention of FC Bayern. Interest from other clubs would not interest the 25-year-old.

“I don’t bother with rumors – that doesn’t do me any good. I have to concentrate on the current situation here. We’re in an outstanding situation right now. I’m fully at BVB and I’m looking forward to the next games,” he explained.

The former Stuttgarter hopes that things will go on for his Borussia just like last time, he continued. “These games that are coming up are the games that you look forward to as a player and are the most exciting for the fans. First of all you want to put on a good show and secondly you want to be successful,” said Kobel optimistically.
