Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has been honored with the NXGN Award 2022 as “the greatest child prodigy in world football”. Among other things, the BVB jewel hung a youngster from FC Bayern.
A special honor for Jude Bellingham: The 18-year-old midfielder from Borussia Dortmund has cleared the NXGN Award 2022 from the goal.com portal. Accordingly, the BVB professional is the “biggest child prodigy in world football”.
All players born after January 1, 2023 were eligible for the annual election. Last year Ansu Fati from FC Barcelona won the award.
“I’m excited to be number one on NXGN,” said Bellingham. He thanked the BVB fans for their support: “I really appreciate it.”
Jamal Musiala from FC Bayern in fourth place
Bellingham dismissed Jamal Musiala, among others. The German international from FC Bayern finished fourth.
“It’s an honor for me,” said Musiala. “That fills me with pride and is additional motivation to achieve my goals.”
Second behind Bellingham was Bayer Leverkusen’s super talent Florian Wirtz, who is currently suffering from a cruciate ligament injury.
With Bellingham’s BVB team-mate Youssoufa Moukoko (eighth place) and Ricardo Pepi from FC Augsburg (tenth place), two other Bundesliga players made it into the top 10.

Bellingham is “already one of the best midfielders in the world,” it said in justifying his first place in the ranking. “The Englishman is able to set the pace of a game, even at the highest European level. His ball control and confidence, which is on par with that of an experienced title winner, are qualities that every modern coach is desperately looking for.”
There is “probably no question” that the BVB newcomer will “shape European and global football for years to come”.
Borussia had sold Bellingham for 25 million euros from his hometown club Birmingham City in the summer of 2020. Today, the market value of the English A national player is estimated at around 75 million euros – and the trend is rising sharply.
