“Not so my mistake”
BVB goalkeeper Kobel denies Patzer with a curious goal

Borussia Dortmund had to cope with an early goal against the OSC Lille. BVB keeper Gregor Kobel commented on the unfortunate scene after the game.
The round of 16 of the Champions League against Lille for BVB could hardly have been worse: Borussia was already 0-1 behind in the fifth minute with a goal by Jonathan David. After the 1-1 in the first leg in their own stadium, it became tricky for the Dortmund.
BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was probably not entirely innocent. The 27-year-old had the rather slow ball slid through his legs. But when it comes to the keeper himself, it was not a mistake.
At the DAZN microphone, Kobel described his view of things after the game: “I have already noticed it, you don’t see it well on TV, but the Schlotti (BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck, editor’s note) fell on him,” he explained.
“So I usually like to say when it was my mistake,” continued Kobel, but a deflected ball from the short distance is difficult to keep. “It is really a very difficult situation for me because I am already in the action. Anyone who is the goalkeeper knows that if you are already in your movement, to change the short distance again, it is simply difficult,” he said. “I understand that it doesn’t look so beautiful, but actually, I think it’s not my mistake.”
Whether a mistake or not, Kobel was relieved by the reaction of his team. The BVB turned the game through hits from Emre Can (penalty) and Maximilian Beier and made it to the quarter -finals. “I think we are always quite resilient in the Champions League,” said Kobel. After the early goal, BVB was the better team. “So I’m very proud of the team. It was a very important victory. It is super good.”
