An evening at the training center gets out of hand. This now has consequences for former Dortmund player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left out of the squad by his club Olympique Marseille for the away game in Le Havre on Sunday. The reason for this is apparently an incident at the training center on Thursday evening. This is reported by the French newspaper “L’Équipe”, among others.
What had happened? According to the report, there was turmoil at the “OM” training center. Aubameyang is said to have caused chaos in several rooms with ten teammates. But there was probably no bad intention behind it, writes “L’Équipe”. Aubameyang’s downfall was the use of a fire extinguisher.
The striker is said to have used the device to spray Bob Tahri as well as his bed and personal items. The problem: The former French athlete was responsible for adhering to the curfew as a representative of the sports management in Marseille and apparently didn’t find Aubameyang’s action funny at all.
According to the report, Tahri reported the incident to the club’s management duo, interim president Alban Juster and future president Stéphane Richard. On Friday, both of them clarified the matter with the team and then punished Aubameyang. He is said to have already apologized to the club management and Tahri.
The 36-year-old has been under contract with Marseille since last summer. In 40 games so far he has 13 goals and ten assists. In Germany, Aubameyang once played for Borussia Dortmund (2013 to 2018), won the DFB Cup with the club in 2017 and was top scorer in the Bundesliga in the same year. In total, he played in 213 competitive games for BVB. He scored 131 goals and contributed 36 assists.
