Coach Edin Terzic still sees a lot of development potential at Borussia Dortmund after two Bundesliga wins in a row. “The points scored are actually okay. But there’s a bit of lightness and a bit of magic missing,” said Terzic the day before the game at TSG Hoffenheim (Friday, 8.30 p.m./DAZN), who have twelve points more than BVB after five matchdays.
“If you see that we were far too open in the first three games and then look at the last two games, we are on the right track. The team is showing a good reaction to what we are talking about,” said Terzic: “We know that we still have room for improvement. But we will manage to play exciting football soon.”
Like all other personnel questions, Terzic did not want to answer whether captain Emre Can (29) would be back in the team after six changes before the 1-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg the previous week. “Emre is an important player for us and especially for me as a coach,” said Terzic: “Nevertheless, I won’t reveal how I will decide.” Thomas Meunier (32), Mateu Morey (23) and Marcel Sabitzer (29 ) continue to fail.
However, it can be assumed that Can’s predecessor Marco Reus (34), who scored the winning goal in the starting eleven comeback after four competitive games on the bench, will be allowed to start again. “He earned the chance through good short appearances and took advantage of the opportunity. That’s how we imagine it, that’s how we all get better. We have to push ourselves to the limit every week,” said his coach. “We have always emphasized how important Marco is to us.”
