BVB: Akanji becomes Plan B at Juventus

Manuel Akanji’s future at Borussia Dortmund is still unclear. Will the Swiss extend his contract, which expires in 2023, or will he be looking for a new employer in the summer? In addition to Manchester United, the BVB star now apparently has another option.

Like the Italian sports newspaper “tuttosport” reported, Juventus Turin has an eye on Akanji. Accordingly, those responsible for the old lady are dealing with a transfer of the central defender in the summer.

At Juve, however, Akanji is probably only plan B. There is greater interest in signing Antonio Rüdiger from Chelsea. In contrast to Akanji, Rüdiger is available for free.

However, the competition for the German international is great. In addition to Juve, FC Bayern, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are also said to be digging into Rüdiger.

But even with Akanji, Juve will probably have to adjust to fellow courtiers. Manchester United are also said to be interested in the defender.

There have recently been conflicting reports on the current status of the negotiations between the BVB bosses and Akanji. According to “Bild”, the 26-year-old rejected an improved offer from Black and Yellow.

Conversations not over yet?

Means: In the summer, Borussia and the 26-year-old will most likely part ways after four and a half years, because BVB cannot and does not want to afford a free transfer in 2023.

According to information from the Swiss “Blick”, however, it is still not certain whether this will really happen. There is talk of ongoing talks between the club and the player. The newspaper was assured by the consulting team that no decision had yet been made.

One thing is clear: a transfer this summer would fill the coffers of the black and yellow. “Bild” speculates about a fee of around 30 million euros.
