On the Christmas coffee table, the ever-lovely classic, buttermilk cake, will delight. This delicious cake is full of the spicy flavors of Christmas: cinnamon, cloves, ginger and orange peel.
Buttermilk cake is one of the easiest Christmas pastries, as its ingredients are mixed together in one bowl. So this cake can also be done by a less experienced home baker.
The cake can be baked well before Christmas and frozen.
Buttermilk cake
4 dl wheat flour
2 dl sugar
1 teaspoon of soda
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of orange peel
1 tablespoon of syrup
100 g of melted fat
3 dl buttermilk
1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
2. Add syrup, fat and buttermilk. Mix the dough until smooth with a wooden fork.
3. Pour the dough into a greased and breadcrumbed cake pan and bake the cake on the lower level of the oven at 175 degrees for about an hour.
4. Allow to cool for a while before inverting the cake.
