The Zundert flower parade is just over, but the floats are still attracting on Monday. Thousands of visitors come to admire the cars, which have been prepared for months, at the exhibition site in Zundert again. “It’s definitely worth it.”

Anyone who will be present on Monday at the exhibition of the floats will look his eyes out. The huge cars, covered with dahlias, are set up on a large area. Neighborhoods view each other’s creations and visitors also come and go all day to admire and photograph the artworks.

Twenty neighborhoods have worked hard for months on the construction of their cars. From sheriffs to UFOs: everything comes by. “I think it’s great,” says a woman who looks at the artworks with surprise. “Our granddaughter stood on one of the cars, so we wanted to see that up close.” She recommends everyone who did not go to the parade on Sunday to come and have a look next year. “It’s definitely worth it.”

“It is very cleverly made,” says a man who is watching a car with an open mouth. “This year was the first time for me, but I am already looking forward to the next edition. Too bad it will only take two days.” The corso builders will start the demolition of the cars from Tuesday. Then they can admit and look forward to the next edition.

Unprecedentedly high quality
The chairman of the flower parade is more than satisfied with this edition. “We had a wonderful edition,” says John Vriend’s beaming with happiness. “The cars were of unprecedented high quality.”

A number of cars were seen as contender in advance, but there can only be the winner. The professional jury and public jury unanimously agreed on this year’s winner. “And rightly so too. What a work of art,” says friends, looking at the car of the Tiggelaar neighborhood. Just like many visitors, who want to see the winning car up close on Monday.

The huge phoenix attracts a lot of visitors from visitors on Monday. With 603 points, the neighborhood of Tiggelaar was allowed to stop on the CorsoBoulevard to receive the first prize. Neighborhood Wernhout won the second prize with their car ‘Davy Jones: keeper of Lost Souls’.

For the builders of the neighborhood of Laer-Akkermolen, the Corso did not go without a struggle. They built a car where a UFO moved through a roller coaster construction over the entire platform. “A nice idea, but then it has to work,” laughs one of the builders. They didn’t get the construction to work on Sunday. “That was a painful moment for the neighborhood. A bitter pill for swallowing, especially for the people who have been working on the car for so long.”

But luckily it works this Monday. And so they can still show the UFO to the public. “I am very proud,” says the man. “It’s a reward for our hard work from the past year.”

The heat still caused a small smell at the event. Dozens of people became unwell because of the heat. The second procession of the flower parade was therefore also delayed. “We have taken measures in advance, such as information and drinking water points,” says Friends Chairman. “Fortunately, all incidents are well resolved by our medical team.”
