Inter Miami has managed another transfer coup after signing Lionel Messi (36): Sergio Busquets (35) is moving to the MLS club and has a contract until 2025. The long-time FC Barcelona professional played with him from 2008 to 2021 Argentinian world champions at Barça, they played together in 566 games – Busquets only played with one other player more often in his career.
Busquets was available on a free transfer as his contract with his training club Barça expired on 30 June. For him it is the first change in his career. Busquets and Messi’s first appearance in the new kit is set to come on July 21 when Miami opens the Leagues Cup against Mexican club Cruz Azul. Miami announced contract details for the Messi transfer on Saturday. The club have gone 11 games without a win in MLS and are bottom in the Eastern Conference. Ex-Barça coach Gerardo Martino was recently introduced as the new coach.
