In the World Women’s Boxing Championship, hosted by Turkey by the International Boxing Association (IBA), national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli beat Thai Janjaem Suwannapheng 5-0 to reach the final.
On the 9th day of the championship held in Başakşehir Youth and Sports Facilities, Olympic and world champion Busenaz Sürmeneli played in the semi-finals in 66 kg.
The last world champion national boxer Busenaz, who won the gold medal in the 69 kg category at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games last year, eliminated Italian Angela Carini, American Arika Melek Skoog and Uzbek Navbakhor Khamidova in this championship, respectively.
The 23-year-old national boxer, who faced Thai Suwannapheng in the semi-finals, won the first round 3-2. Busenaz, who showed a more effective performance in the second round, made the referee count to his opponent and finished this section 5-0.
Busenaz Sürmeneli, who won the last round 5-0, won the match 5-0 and made his mark in the final.
Busenaz became the fourth national boxer to reach the final after Ayşe Çağrıır in 48 kg, Buse Naz Çakıroğlu in 50 kg and Hatice Akbaş in 54 kg.
Busenaz, who was the 69kg world champion in Russia in 2019, will compete for the second consecutive gold medal against Canadian Charlie Cavanagh on Friday, May 20, in the 66kg final.
