Bus transport in Drenthe will be almost completely electric in the coming years

Qbuzz’s bus transport in Drenthe and Groningen will be almost entirely electric over the next three years. A large part of the existing 158 diesel buses will be replaced by zero-emission vehicles.

At the moment, almost 200 Qbuzz buses run on cleaner energy sources, such as electricity and hydrogen. According to public transport agency Groningen Drenthe, which includes Qbuzz, the newly purchased buses are “a major step towards achieving the sustainability ambitions: completely emission-free bus transport in 2030”.

The electric buses also lead to lower costs than the diesel variant, partly due to the high fuel price. Traveling also becomes more pleasant because of the little noise the vehicle produces. No additional costs need to be incurred for the purchase, the public transport agency reports.
