The Flemish government has ordered De Lijn to save 35.5 million euros this year. This will lead to a limitation of the supply, confirms spokesperson Marco Demerling. Earlier Wednesday, the unions had already warned about the consequences of the cost-cutting operation.

In concrete terms, a plan is currently being drawn up for each transport region. De Lijn uses an objective methodology. “We look at the lines with the lowest occupancy,” Demerling said. “These are lines with an average maximum occupancy of fewer than eight passengers.”
