The De Hoge Akker district in Best has been plagued for weeks by burglaries in company buses. According to a number of inhabitants, six to ten buses are hit every week. With some vehicles, even several times have been broken into.

The method is always the same. Someone does pre -exploration, after which a small hole, as big as a fingertip, is drilled in the door. Then the thieves open the doors and steal the tools. Two vans have also smashed windows.

Entrepreneurs in particular are the victims. They lose expensive working material and pay for the costs. “I’m a bit done with it,” says entrepreneur Koen Bouwman. He has already been broken in three times this year, of which twice within a short time.

“I already have more than 10,000 euros in damage.”

“Everything has been stolen with me: all my tools, air conditioners. I have already had more than 10,000 euros in damage. I also have to have my bus sprayed again.” With a well -known one of him, the bus was also broken open, but nothing was stolen.

Another local resident, who wants to remain anonymous, was hit in the night from Friday to Saturday. “They made a hole by my handle and stolen part of my tools.” He had his van repaired, which cost him a thousand euros. “They have been to my private things, I think that’s the worst.”

“It also costs me money.”

According to him, sanding machines and batteries were included. Although he is insured as a self -employed person, he does not expect to be reimbursed. “So it also costs me money,” he says indignantly. “It causes a lot of hassle, because I had to repair the damage and couldn’t work for two days.”

As a precaution, he now takes his tools out of the bus every evening. “And in the morning I put it back again.” His previous employer was also broken into. “Electric tools were also stolen there.”

“It is as if they have made a professional work of it.”

Ferry van Gestel was more lucky. He remained damage -free. “They only sat on my bus with me,” he says after viewing camera images. “They watched on different days if he was open.” His bus remained unaffected. “My bus is always empty because I am a musician.”

According to residents, the burglars are brutal and seem to be coming back. “You can see on camera images how relaxing the boy is,” says the second victim. “It is as if they have made a professional work of it.” Koen Bouwman always recognizes the same thief on images. “A boy with a black North Face jacket, who is every time append And walks close to the buses. Buses are emptied in those places. “

The police said they had only received a few reports of burglaries in company buses in the past month. There are no large numbers of them yet. “The team in Best also does not work on these supposed burglaries,” a police spokesperson said.
