There was great fear in Noordscheschut, just before Christmas. After a jam session had just taken place in the De Cirkel village hall on Friday evening, it was broken into at night. Miscreants destroyed doors and probably stole a few hundred euros.
“Unbelievable,” says board member Niels Gritter on the phone. “On Saturday morning, a fellow board member opened the doors and discovered a huge mess. The thieves entered through the emergency exit, which they had forced. It is very sad.”
According to Gritter, the thieves clearly targeted the money. “All the doors have been forced open, they have been in every room,” he explains. “The money from the jam session is gone. I suspect it is several hundred euros.”
But that wasn’t all. The money from the childcare Christmas market has also disappeared. “The children and the guidance had done their best. It is very sad. Fortunately, there is great solidarity and we do not let ourselves be discouraged.”
The board is not giving up. “We really wanted to bring more life back into the brewery. But we will continue to organize activities.” It is now the police’s turn. “We hope that they find the perpetrators and that justice does its work,” concludes Gritter.
