The police arrested two suspected burglars on the Hervensebaan in Den Bosch on Saturday evening around nine o’clock. They had crashed shortly before after a chase. Officers wanted to pull over the two men because they may be involved in an attempted burglary at a wholesaler on Moermanstraat.
The police received a report that the Makro in Den Bosch was being broken into. When officers arrived there, they saw a white van driving away from the wholesaler at high speed. The chase was then immediately initiated.
Crash
That didn’t last very long, because about four kilometers away the suspects hit three so-called pig backs with their car. These are large oval-shaped concrete blocks that stand along the road. The van then came to a sudden stop against a tree.

The driver then fled on foot and, according to a 112 correspondent, also hid from the police in the water. Officers eventually caught him after a short chase and he was arrested. To be sure, he was checked by ambulance personnel.
Injured
His passenger did not fare as well. He was injured in the crash and was taken to hospital by ambulance for a check-up. Officers are with him because he is a suspect.
Because the van first hit the concrete blocks, both the front wheels and the rear axle are off. It is striking that the license plates on the crashed car come from a completely different passenger car model.
Burglar stuff
Officers found all kinds of items in the back of the van that could be used for burglary. There was a crowbar, cordless screwdriver and cordless grinder.
