At football club DZOH from Emmen they came home from a rude awakening this morning. The window in the boardroom door was smashed and four TVs were broken. “It gives a very unpleasant feeling, but the most important thing is that football can be played tomorrow,” says chairman Ginus Gangelhof.
He was woken up this morning after the alarm went off in the club building. “Our man who responds to these nightly reports saw all kinds of glass shards lying around. The door was smashed from the stands and someone entered the boardroom. It seems that the burglar quickly entered and smashed those televisions. Well, he can be proud of that,” says Gangelhof cynically.
The club’s board briefly considered keeping the burglary under wraps. “We didn’t want to publicize it too much at first. But in the end, one of us decided to post it online after consultation.” The post on Facebook states that the club has reported the incident to the police and that the perpetrator has a week to report to the police, otherwise images will be released online. “We have a camera on the field, when you walk into the stands you pass in front of it,” says Gangelhof.
