Many bunkers were built in the Netherlands in the Second World War. These structures can still be found throughout the country, from the coast to deep into the dunes. Have you always wanted to see one inside? That will soon be possible on Bunkerdag.

The National Bunker Day is on Saturday 24 May. The doors of bunkers along the Dutch coast, from Zeeland to the Wadden Islands, open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visit bunkers

Do you want to visit a bunker? Then you can, for example, go to the originally Italian Tobruk Bunker in Ypenburg. This bunker is closest to Zoetermeer. The bunker was used in 1941 in the defense of the city of Tobroek in Libya. The design was taken over in 1942 and built in various places in Europe. In 1942, nine Tobrukss were buried around Ypenburg to defend the airport. Or visit the Museum Protection Population in the National Wijk. There is also a bunker to view.

There are even more bunkers in the Zoetermeer area, especially in The Hague. Look at This website To see which those are.

Tickets for bunker visit

To visit the participating locations during Bunkerdag you need a wristband. You can buy this on the day itself at the first participating bunker you visit and then give you access to all other locations.

A wristband costs 7.50 euros. Children up to the age of 12 pay 4 euros for a card and children up to 3 years old are allowed for free.
