Bayer Leverkusen has signed the Dutch national goalkeeper Mark Flekken. He should become the new number one at Bayer.
As the Rhinelanders announced on Tuesday, the 31-year-old signed a contract until 2028. According to media reports, the transfer fee should be between 10 and 14 million euros.
“We are very well positioned in the team in the team for the coming years,” said Leverkusen’s sports manager Simon Rolfes and praised the qualities of the Dutch in detail.
Flekken has “strong reflexes, a good penalty area control and has an enormous reach due to its length of 1.95 meters,” said Rolfes: “Mark radiates impressive physical presence, and in terms of football, he has certainly been one of the best keepers of the Premier League in the past two years.”

Flekken, who played eight caps for the Netherlands, had a contract until summer 2027 at FC Brentford in the English Premier League. “The many games against absolute world-class professionals in England advanced me again,” said Flekken.
