Trouble over VIP tickets: AfD boss Chrupalla claims that RB Leipzig has canceled its tickets for the game against FC Bayern. The club takes a stand.

According to AfD boss Tino Chrupalla, RB Leipzig has canceled VIP tickets booked through a third party for him and several Saxon entrepreneurs for the top Bundesliga game against FC Bayern on Saturday (from 6:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). However, the club firmly rejects these allegations.

When asked by t-online, the Leipzig-based company said: “We clearly contradict the process outlined by Mr. Tino Chrupalla.” Accordingly, the politician has never purchased tickets for an RB Leipzig home game. “Neither for the game against FC Bayern Munich nor in the past,” the club continued.

RB Leipzig also made it clear: “There was and is no contractual relationship with Mr. Chrupalla. There was also never one or more tickets that were personalized in the name of Tino Chrupalla.”

According to his own statements, the AfD leader did not order the tickets himself. In December, a player agent he knew organized twelve tickets and a VIP room in the opposing stand in the Leipzig stadium as a birthday present from Chrupalla for an entrepreneur friend. The tickets were finally sent to him by the friend on January 10th and he downloaded them onto his cell phone using the RB app. dpa was able to see an invoice for the tickets and cell phone screenshots.

As usual, the Federal Criminal Police Office, whose bodyguards accompany the AfD leader in public, asked the club about local conditions. The association did not confirm this when asked and referred questions to the Federal Criminal Police Office to the authority.

“Then immediately came the cancellation,” said Chrupalla. The tickets have also disappeared from the mobile phone app. He spoke of a scandal. According to the AfD boss, the organizer of the tickets received a message from the club that spoke of an “annoying double booking”. The twelve VIP cards purchased would have to be returned.

In response to a t-online query, the club said with regard to the game against the German record champions: “Unfortunately, there was overbooking in our VIP areas before this particularly popular home game against FC Bayern. With more than a million visitors per season in the Red Bull Arena, errors in the ticketing system, which are then immediately corrected in accordance with our terms and conditions, cannot be completely avoided.”

According to the association, people who were affected by the overbooking and whose tickets were canceled “of course received an appropriate offer of compensation.”
