Bundesliga promoted 1. FC Heidenheim says goodbye to Dzenis Burnic’s quintet

Bundesliga promoted

Newcomers 1. FC Heidenheim will start their first season in the Bundesliga without a quintet. The expiring contracts with Dzenis Burnic (25), Andreas Geipl (31), Marvin Rittmüller (24), Merveille Biankadi (28) and Mert Arslan (19) will not be extended, as the club announced on Wednesday.

“Each and every one of these players, as part of our champion team, has made their contribution to the greatest success of our FCH club history,” said CEO Holger Sanwald. Because of the special sporting situation, it was not possible to say goodbye to the five professionals in person and in front of an audience. However, this should be made up for “at a suitable opportunity”.

With 650,000 euros, ex-DFB junior Burnic has the highest market value of the quintet, he was also used most often with 62 games. The longest under contract was Biankadi, who joined the club in 2019 but only made eight appearances and was awarded twice. Substitute keeper Vitus Eicher, on the other hand, will remain with FCH beyond the summer, and the 32-year-old has signed a new working paper until 2025.
