Bundesliga: Leverkusen’s Adli is out for a long time

Leverkusen (AP) – Bayer Leverkusen will have to do without striker Amine Adli until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old tore a tendon in his right thigh in a friendly with the French U21 national team against the Faroe Islands, the Bundesliga club announced. Only in preparation for the coming season does the current third in the table count on Adli again, who has scored four goals in 34 competitive games for Leverkusen this season.

For Leverkusen it is the next bad news after several serious injuries. National player Florian Wirtz is also missing for a long time with a cruciate ligament tear. Right-back Jeremie Frimpong is also out of action this season. His replacement Timothy Fosu-Mensah recently injured his thigh.

Wirtz has since had surgery on his left knee in Innsbruck. The 18-year-old will spend the next few days there and then return to Leverkusen, Bayer 04 said.
