Hamburger SV has suffered a setback after two previous wins and remains without an away win this Bundesliga season. Despite loud support from more than 10,000 traveling fans, coach Merlin Polzin’s team lost 1:4 (0:2) to TSG Hoffenheim.
Grischa Prömel (8th minute), Ozan Kabak (31st), Tim Lemperle (65th) and Fisnik Asllani (72nd) scored the TSG goals in front of 30,150 spectators in the sold-out arena. Rayan Philippe (82nd) reduced the score to 1:4 shortly before the end, but shot over the goal with a hand penalty shortly afterwards (90th + 1).
The newcomers were simply too harmless against the in-form Kraichgauer, who continued to recommend themselves as European Cup candidates. Away from home, HSV only got 2 out of 18 possible points.
Turnaround despite red card: St. Pauli defeats Heidenheim
Even when they were outnumbered, FC St. Pauli managed to turn the trend around in the Bundesliga. After nine defeats in a row and one draw, Hamburg had another win despite the early red card against Eric Smith (45th + 1).
In front of 29,546 spectators in the sold-out Millerntor Stadium, coach Alexander Blessin’s team defeated 1. FC Heidenheim 2-1 (1-0). Thanks to the goals from Martijn Kaars (35th/53rd), the Kiezkickers now moved past the guests with eleven points and into relegation place 16th. Marvin Pieringer (64th) was successful for the Heidenheimers, who had previously won twice.
Eintracht Frankfurt ends the lull with a difficult 1-0 win against FC Augsburg
Eintracht Frankfurt has ended its sporting lull and brought some calm with an arduous victory. Coach Dino Toppmöller’s team won 1-0 (0-0) against FC Augsburg on matchday 14 despite a mixed performance and thus maintained contact with the Champions League ranks.
In front of 58,300 spectators, the Hessians averted a third defeat in eight days thanks to Ritsu Doan’s goal (68th). The happy home win against a relegation contender wasn’t exactly a sporting encouragement for Frankfurt. Especially since the guests had two goals subsequently denied by VAR.
VfL Wolfsburg is swirling: Gladbach’s high flight has stopped
Led by a strong offensive trio, VfL Wolfsburg stopped Borussia Mönchengladbach’s upward trend and moved a little further towards mid-table. The Lower Saxony deservedly won 3-1 (3-1) on the Lower Rhine, and their interim coach Daniel Bauer collected further arguments for a promotion to head coach. Borussia, who had taken 13 out of 15 possible points from the previous five games in the Bundesliga, disappointed for long stretches.

The eye-catching Patrick Wimmer scored for the guests in the 4th and 34th minutes. Mohamed Amoura (30th) was also successful again. Christian Eriksen also knew how to convince on the VfL side. Borussia, who were weak at home, were only able to celebrate an own goal from Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis (22nd). “The first impressions are very, very positive,” said new VfL sports director Pirmin Schwegler before the game about Bauer’s possible continued employment. But they wanted to use the time until Christmas, he explained on “Sky”.
