Thuram twice forgives Gladbach’s leadership

After an uneventful initial phase, Borussia created the first good chance to score. Jonas Hofmann crossed from the right, in the center Thuram failed to Werder goalkeeper Michael Zetterer (22nd).

Bremen hardly came up with any compelling situations, so shortly before the half-time break it was Gladbach who became dangerous again: Thuram was released again, the Frenchman missed again.

Werder equalizes Gladbach’s lead

In the third attempt, Thuram did better. After Hofmann’s back-heel pass, Gladbach’s striker got into position and shot in against Zetterer’s running direction to give the hosts the lead (48′). Shortly thereafter, Hofmann could have increased, but missed the ball in the best final position (56th).

Bremen’s goalkeeper Zetterer then saved with a strong foot defense against Thuram (61st) and kept Bremen in the game. Werder equalized a little later: Schmid released Marvin Ducksch, who shook off Ko Itakura and played Jonas Omlin (65′).

However, Gladbach initially remained the stronger team and took the lead again: Lars Stindl was denied by Zetterer, but Bremen’s Niklas Stark cleared the penalty area. Florian Neuhaus took the ball and deliberately shot it into the left corner (73′).

But Bremen hit back in the 90th minute. Ducksch brought a cross to the ground, positioned himself in a one-two with Niklas Füllkrug and finished with a well-considered shot into the right corner.
