Eintracht Frankfurt actually wanted to compete with Ajax Amsterdam on Saturday. But nothing will come of it. The Dutch champion complains about a number of corona cases.
The planned test match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax Amsterdam has been canceled due to several corona cases in the Dutch team. Both clubs agreed on this “for security reasons”, as the Bundesliga soccer club announced on Saturday a few hours before the planned kick-off in Grödig.
Ajax explained that some corona cases were found among the players at the training camp in Austria on Friday evening. Europa League winner Frankfurt wanted to test against the Dutch champions a week before the start of the competitive game in the DFB Cup at 1. FC Magdeburg on August 1st.
Instead, according to the club, coach Oliver Glasner’s team should now complete a training session on Saturday. The last test match at FC Astoria Walldorf is scheduled for Wednesday.
