Bundesliga: BVB captain Reus still avoids future questions

Saudi Arabia? Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club? Borussia Dortmund’s captain Marco Reus does not appear to be fundamentally averse to a possible desert adventure at the end of his career.

“I have an advisor to sort things out,” the 33-year-old said at BVB’s training camp in Marbella, Spain, about a rumor that Al-Nassr wants him. And conceded considerations for the future: “Of course I’m looking ahead, I still have six months of contract, it would be wrong if I didn’t think about it.”

No Saudi Arabia denials from Reus

A firm denial sounds different. And so even the comeback of Sébastien Haller at BVB is almost a bit in the background. After all, Reus is an institution for the black and yellow. And Saudi Arabia, with its more than dubious human rights situation, is not just any country where you can play football and earn astronomical sums.

And so the 33-year-old, with his many injury worries, is now heating up poker for his future in general. It is important for him to stay healthy, “the rest” will show the future, said Reus: “Then you will see in which direction it goes.”

BVB captain not satisfied with the first half of the season

His heart belongs to BVB, the fans know that. That’s why the focus is currently “completely” on the sporting events, after all, the first 15 games of the season didn’t go according to plan. “We’re in sixth place, we have other things to do,” said Reus, who missed the World Cup in Qatar due to an ankle injury. But now he is back “on the training ground as normal”.

Just like Haller after his testicular cancer. “I get goosebumps that he’s back on the pitch. We were just so happy that he’s back,” said Reus: “We all took our hats off to this fight that he did there. And like him has come back now, with what mental strength. That’s strong. You can see it every day: he’s training all the way.”

Haller “of course still has some catching up to do”

Reus fit again, Haller back – is things looking up again now? “Of course he still has some catching up to do, but he’s going through the whole thing and it’s a lot of fun to be back on the pitch with him because he also gives us a new alternative in the long run that we might not have in our game yet have,” said Reus: “But we would all do well to keep calm and give him time. It will take a while before he finds his rhythm.”
