Really goes down like oil.
For 11 years, Bayern really shaved what they could shave and were rightly always at the top (of course with more financial opportunities than the rest of the league). The Bundesliga is now just a shadow of its former self, with almost nothing left of its former excitement and splendor.
And then Leverkusen came along with a performance that went down in the annals of Bundesliga history. A season that was NEVER possible even with players like Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Breitner and Rummenigge, Matthäus, Robben and Ribery and Co.
I would have preferred it to a team other than Leverkusen, especially Stuttgart last season or Dortmund in general, who came close more than once in the last decade, but the fact that they have become the greatest club in the world makes me even happier.
The Leverkusen team from 23/24.
People will still be talking about it in 100 years.
Leverkusen played an absolutely exceptional season, no question about it.
But I don’t see the fact that a season like this wasn’t possible for Beckenbauer, Robben and Co.
Bayern have survived 53 Bundesliga games in a row without defeat. It wasn’t in one season, but I don’t understand why that wouldn’t have been possible. For me it’s more like a triple season that people will talk about in 100 years. But we won’t find out. 😁
There you have me maybe. misunderstood. There is no question that something like this would potentially have been possible with the players mentioned. But actually nothing like that ever happened. By mentioning these legendary players in the Bavarian CV, I also wanted to underline what a performance the Leverkusen team showed last year.
For me, this is the best performance a Bundesliga team has ever put in.
At least it was the best performance ever by a Bundesliga team between minutes of play
88 and 98.
I don’t want to diminish Leverkusen’s success by any means, but your celebrations are certainly worth it
a little excessive.
I think you can seriously discuss whether it was the best Bundesliga season of all time.
She is ranked third in terms of points and goals:
1. Bayern 2012/13: 91 points 98:18 goals +80
2. Bayern 2013/14: 90 points 94:23 goals +71
3. Leverkusen 2023/24: 90 points 89:24 goals +65
For me, Bayern were a bit more dominant, especially in the season under Heynckes but also under Guardiola the year after, but they didn’t manage to go undefeated. Depending on how much importance you attach to the unique achievement of ending a season without defeat, you can certainly argue that Bayer 04 played the best Bundesliga season in history.
By the way, Bayern with Müller and Beckenbauer achieved a maximum of 79 points based on the 3 point rule. In 1971/72, however, with 101 goals scored, which is still the record.
