The area covers more than 208 hectares, part of which has already been set up as nature or private forest. Two of those forest plots are and remain private property, but are legally protected as a nature reserve, says Huisman. With that they are retained as a forest and are included in the new plan.
The interior will connect to the character of the landscape: robust nature with wet zones, with space creating at the same time for recreation. According to Van de Bles, hiking and cycling paths should be considered in the first instance.
Work will be done in the coming months on the further elaboration of the plan, whereby a provisional plan is expected early next year. Information meetings are also held for local residents. The expectation is that in the course of 2027 it can really make a shovel into the ground, given the usual procedures and investigations that still precede it.
