BTS member RM announces first official solo album

RM, member of South Korean boy band BTS, releases his first official solo album. INDIGO is set to be released on December 2, 2022, according to the Big Hit Music label.

“Finally, my 1st album is coming out, thanks everyone,” RM wrote on South Korean app WeVerse. “I’ve been working hard on this for the last four years… it will be very different from my past projects and has a lot of fun friends gathered on it. Please wish me well by December 2nd.”

So far, RM has already released the solo mixtapes RM (2015) and MONO (2018). “RM has already given fans an honest look into his world on two mixtapes,” the label told Big Hit on WeVerse. “On Indigo, RM delivers his open thoughts and feelings, presenting a wide range of music through collaborations with various artists. We hope everyone is looking forward to RM’s latest release!”

BTS announced back in July that they would be taking a hiatus as a band while members Jin, Suga, V, Jungkook, RM, Jimin and J-Hope will focus on solo projects. They will also do South Korean military service, which is compulsory for men. A possible exemption for the group had previously been discussed, but this did not materialize. BTS have announced they will reunite as a group in 2025.
