The EU Commission takes the Chinese online marketplace Shein under a close look at European Consumers: Interior protection.
The Brussels authority initiated an investigation to check whether the platform is sufficient against improper contractual terms and unfair business practices.
The investigation is carried out by the national consumers: interior protection authorities under the supervision of the Commission. Shein was informed about the investigation, said the Brussels authority.
A spokeswoman for Shein emphasized that the group wanted to work together with the partners at the EU and national government level. “We welcome all efforts that strengthen the trust and security of European consumers: in the inside in online shopping.”
Brussels also acted against other platforms
With a request for information, the Brussels authority had already requested detailed information from Shein in June 2024.
