The European Commission wants to give Hungary and Slovakia an extra year – until the end of 2024 – to get rid of Russian oil, writes news agency Reuters based on insiders. According to these plans, the Czech Republic will receive an extra six months. With those concessions, Brussels hopes to persuade the countries to join the sixth sanctions package against Russia.
