Before raising a toast to the new year, the mayor looks ahead to 2026. “The biggest challenge for works is the station area and also the Gentpoort and the Steenbrugge bridge. We hope to start those works this year. The station area is going very well. In the cultural field we are dealing with Bruusk, which opens on May 8,” says Mayor De fauw.
The New Year’s drink is also the closing event of Wintergloed, the event that started at the end of November. “The light walk attracted a lot of people. This means that around 200,000 people took the walk. Our new skating rink at the Concertgebouw with the winter bar was also a great success. The Christmas markets also attracted a lot of people.
