Bruges skiffer Tibo Vyvey conquers silver in Lucerne

Vyvey had won his streak on Friday and was also fastest in his semi-final on Saturday morning. In the A-final, he left the initiative to Australian Oscar McGuiness, before O’donovan took the lead from the last 500 meters and won in 6:47.15.

The Belgian single sculler finished just over a second behind the Irishman in 6:48.72. Uruguayan Bruno Cetraro Berriolo completed the podium (6:49.81). Three other Belgian boats took part in their semi-finals in Lucerne on Saturday, but missed the A-final.

The tough double-two of Tristan Vandenbussche and Aaron Andries finished 4th in his semi-final and will finish the B-final on Sunday. The light doubles of Niels Van Zandweghe and Marlon Colpaert finished 5th in its semi-final and will compete in the B-final for places 7 to 12.

Finally, the double-four of Tim Brys, Gaston Mercier, Ward Lemmelijn and Ruben Claeys could not compete with the top three and finished 6th in his semi-final.
