In Into the Woods and sing a lot of students and teachers from different Bruges schools together. Not an easy task for a musical of that caliber: “It is difficult. Because of the level of the musical, the bar is very high. And we wanted to search all over Bruges and all Bruges schools. We have made some calls and there have been quite a few candidates, so then it is some searching,” says director Jan Bernolet.
Leading roles
One of the main roles is reserved for Louis Geldof from OLVA Brugge, he plays a baker: “In the beginning it takes some getting used to. Then you have to get to know each other. But actually you work so much and so hard on it that you get to feel and get to know each other.”
Lies Roose, teacher at the Technical Institute of Holy Family – Maricolen plays as Cinderella: “One is a bit hyperactiver than the other. One is looking for a little more peace. But that makes it so pleasant that everyone is different and unique. Or that a bit clicks. Sure. We’ve become a very close group.”
Cinderella and a bakery? In the musical we see more strange combinations, because Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel are also reviewed. It is an adult fairy tale in which all figures have their own sighs.
