The eye-catcher is an impressive 15-meter tree, from a private garden in Weismes (province of Liège). It was sawn off on November 3 and transported to Bruges with a special extendable transport system.
Mayor Dirk De fauw: “Every year, the tree on the Burg is a landmark and meeting place for Bruges residents and visitors. It marks the beginning of a warm and pleasant end-of-year period in our city. At a time when togetherness is so important, we want to send a unifying signal with this Christmas decoration.”
Magical time
Alderman for Public Domain Franky Demon: “The Christmas period is a magical time for many people, and that includes a warm and atmospheric decoration of our city. With the 15-meter tree on the Burg, we once again provide an impressive centerpiece where people come together and experience the Christmas feeling.”
