Germany’s basketball players won the European Championship title. Among them is Isaac Bonga, whose brother is also a well -known athlete.

Germany made it exciting again-and ended up winning the European title in a captivating final against Turkey (88:83). It is the fourth European Championship medal after 1993 (gold), 2005 (silver) and 2022 (bronze) for a German basketball selection.

As in the games before, Isaac Bonga once again played a key role. The defensive specialist was in the final with 20 points in the best thrower of the German team, and was also recognized as the best defender of the tournament.

The German world champion invested a lot at the tournament in Latvia. It is not a matter of course that Isaac Bonga was on the court in Riga. Because the Guard of Partizan Belgrade (Serbia) first played football in childhood – just like his brother Tarsis.

While Isaac switched to basketball after a while, Tarsi’s football professional became a football professional. And the older brother even made it to the Bundesliga a few years ago. In 2020, he made the leap to VfL Bochum through stations in Leverkusen, Düsseldorf and Chemnitz, with which he made the promotion to the German football upper house perfect a year later.

In the Bundesliga, Tarsis Bonga only played a subordinate role, only played three games. The following year he was no longer used, moving to Braunschweig in January 2023.

The 28-year-old is now under contract with the Würzburg Kickers in the regional league Bayern. He was able to score four goals in seven games in the new season. In total, Bonga can show 7 goals and 12 templates in 89 third division games, in which he remained in 27 games without a hit.

The two brothers were probably little in contact during the SEM basketball. Two years ago at the World Cup, they prescribed radio silence, said Tarsis in an interview with FUPA.NET: “During the tournament, I deliberately left my brother alone so that he can fully focus on his task.” At the World Cup, the title followed for Germany – as is now the case with the European Championship.
