Brobbey has signed a contract for five seasons with Sunderland. “It does something to me to say goodbye to Ajax, because I grew up there and I will miss everyone,” said Brobbey via Sunderland. “But the Premier League is the biggest stage in the world and I am ready for the next chapter. It feels great to be a Sunderland player.”

Outside the selection

Trainer John Heitinga left Brobbey outside the selection of Ajax on Saturday for the game with FC Volendam (1-1). Previously the striker did not feel like a departure for Como. He has also been associated with Stade Rennes, Lille and AS Roma in recent weeks. Heitinga still has until Tuesday, when the Dutch transfer market closes, to get a possible replacement.

From 2010, Brobbey played in the youth of Ajax, before making his debut in the first team in 2020. He left for RB Leipzig in 2021, but returned to Amsterdam as a mercenary six months later. In the summer of 2022 he signed a new five -year contract with Ajax. He became national champion twice and played 163 matches for Ajax, in which he scored 56 times.
