British father of two dumps girlfriend for 22-year-old Ukrainian refugee they had taken in | Abroad

Tony Garnett (29), a British father of two, leaves his wife Lorna (28) for Sofiia Karkadym, a 22-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was taken in by the couple. They tell their story in the British newspaper ‘The Sun’.

After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the couple from Bradford, England, decided to open their home to Ukrainian refugees. Finally, Sofia Karkadym moved in with them at the beginning of May. After ten days, Garnett knocked his girlfriend, with whom he had a relationship for ten years and has two children, at the door. The British man himself tells this in the British newspaper ‘The Sun’. The newlyweds realize that they are hurting Lorna, the mother of Garnett’s children. “But I’ve discovered a bond with Sofia like I’ve never had before,” Garnett says.

Karkadym immediately fell in love when she saw Garnett, she tells ‘The Sun’: “As soon as I saw him, I liked him.” The couple realizes that their relationship will face a lot of criticism. “It’s gone really fast, but it’s our love story. I know people will look at me badly for this, but it happened,” Karkadym said. Garnett is certainly confident, he adds. “We plan our future together.”
