The British Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) has introduced a new membership category for companies that collect, sort, classify, mechanically recycles and upcycles as well as recycling processes. The new membership in the area of ​​reuse and recycling promotes circular economy, growth and innovation in the British fashion and textile industry through tailor-made resources, strategic advice and advocacy.

“By opening our membership for the reuse and recycling sector, we confirm our commitment to environmental responsibility and business growth along the entire fashion and text fillet chain in Great Britain,” comments UKFT-CEO Adam Mansellin in a press release. “This new category is intended to convey the tools, knowledge and networks they need to be successful in a developing industry,” he added.

Support of Reuse and Recycling Initiatives

The new membership category offers advantages, especially with regard to the new and upcoming EU legislation. “We maintain close relationships with Defra, Wrap, Textiles 2030, the environmental agency and European decision -makers: inside to support the industry. This way we can inform our members about expectations and at the same time ensure that their needs and perspectives are taken into account,” explains the association. UKFT represents the interests of its members towards the government and industry at national and international levels and influences guidelines and regulations in order to promote the growth of initiatives for using textile reuse and recycling.

In addition, members can present their company through the platforms, newsletters and social media from UKFT and expand their network with special events. Members also receive targeted management consultancy and support from the UKFT team and industry expert: Interior in areas such as business strategy, sustainability and environment, compliance, competencies and further education, human resources, employment and financing. Exclusive access to report, market views and guidelines also informs members about best practices, compliance requirements and new trends in the use of textiles and in recycling.

Members also have the option of participating in important campaigns and participating in projects that promote sustainability and circular business models, such as ACT UK (Autosort for Circular Textiles) and CFIN (Circular Fashion Innovation Network). Both initiatives have laid a solid basis for promoting the circular economy in the British fashion and textile industry. Through these projects, UKFT also has an extensive network of actors: inside that work for a rethink in the waste area and the promotion of innovations in the use of materials.

The association has recently also received a new partnership with the textile recycling expo to cooperate between industry player: inside, political decision -makers: inside and sustainability activists: to strengthen inside.
