The Ukrainian army already reported on Thursday that four Russian tanks were destroyed near Kharkov, Ukraine’s second largest city in the north of the country. The British say there is currently fighting on the outskirts of Kharkov.
The British army also confirms earlier reports from the Americans that the Russians have succeeded in capturing the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl.
Despite the advance of Russian troops, the British Ministry of Defense expects that Russia’s intended military objectives were not achieved on day one of the raid. However, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that all goals would have been achieved, according to Interfax news agency.
