Brignone wins giant slalom in Tremblant

Italian ski racer Federica Brignone won the first of two giant slaloms in Tremblant, Canada.

The Beijing Olympic silver medalist won an exciting race with a lead of 0.21 seconds over Slovakian Petra Vlhova. US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin (+0.29) took third place.

The Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.59), who won the first two giant slaloms of the winter, came fifth this time behind the Swede Sara Hector (0.56).

The only German starter, Emma Aicher, was eliminated in the first round. Another giant slalom is scheduled for Sunday (5 p.m. and 8 p.m. CET).
