Overall World Cup winner Federica Brignone wants to make her comeback almost three weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. The 35-year-old Italian, who suffered a double fracture of the tibia and fibula in her left lower leg on April 3, has registered for the World Cup giant slalom on Tuesday at Kronplatz in South Tyrol.
After running in before the race, Brignone will “decide whether she will start or not,” said the Italian association FISI. The super-G and giant slalom specialist had already resumed training at the beginning of January.
The all-rounder from the Aosta Valley has already won three Olympic medals and two World Championship titles in her career, and she is the reigning world champion in giant slalom. She is also expected to be one of the four flag bearers of the Italian delegation at the opening ceremony on February 6th.
