Kakhi, a successful former wrestler, leaves Tbilisi to join his son in New York. He brings with him three wheels of Georgian cheese and is determined to find out what is wrong in the life of the boy who is in America to study medicine, but seems to be lost.

The community of emigrants he joins in the miserable Brooklyn pension brings to life all the ghosts of the former USSR.

Levan Tediashvili is Kakhi in the film “Brighton 4th” (courtesy of Kino Lorber).

In the criminal underworld in which he is forced to move to save his son, the elderly father will have some interesting encounters: the future daughter-in-law (but it’s only for a green card), the Kazakh exploiter who sends money home to treat his sick father…

But above all it is the American dream under the lens: a strenuous daily struggle for survival.
