The cross-country run in the Soesterduinen has different surfaces and covers a distance of approximately ten kilometers. Filmon Tesfu recorded a time of 32:41 minutes. This left him narrowly ahead of Frenchman Michael Gras (32:42) and Ethiopian Mustafa Kedir (32:43). Gianluca Assorgia also from Den Helder finished ninth.
Thanks to this kind of performance, Tesfu now seriously counts in the running world. In mid-October he made his debut at the marathon in Amsterdam with a very good time of 2:10:58. Only one Dutchman (Khalid Choukoud) did better that day in the Olympic Stadium. Afterwards, Tesfu indicated that he could actually go faster.
