Bright Eyes and Phoebe Bridgers cover Elliott Smith

Best of three worlds: Indie folk rock band Bright Eyes and songwriter Phoebe Bridgers have teamed up to cover Elliott Smith. Her version of “St. Ides Heaven” is part of Bright Eyes’ upcoming Companion EP series and album reissues.

The three EPs “A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997: A Companion”, “Letting Off The Happiness: A Companion” and “Fevers and Mirrors: A Companion” are scheduled for release on May 27th via Dead Oceans.

The current album DOWN IN THE WEEDS, WHERE THE WORLD ONCE WAS by Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott is from 2020. Oberst also founded the duo Better Oblivion Community Center with Phoebe Bridgers in 2018.

“St. Ides Heaven” by singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, who died in 2003, was released in 1995 on his second album ELLIOTT SMITH.

Bright Eyes from Omaha will tour Germany in 2022.
