Bridget Maasland thinks it is a shame that NPO 1 will program major blockbusters such as Boerzoekt Vrouw and Heel Holland Bakt on a daily basis. “I can’t watch TV all week.”
Boerzoekt Vrouw, Heel Holland Bakt and Hunted VIPS will be broadcast daily on NPO 1 from 2026, channel boss Remco van Westerloo has confirmed. A.Dwhich hijacked Tina Nijkamp’s scoop. The newspaper does this often, but almost never mentions her as the original source, probably because she is a Telegraaf columnist.
Refloating
Why Remco chooses this? “With the departure of Arjen Lubach, we have taken the opportunity to radically adjust the programming,” he says in the newspaper.
The Smartest Person has proven that the 9:30 PM time slot is suitable for daily TV and that is when the big blockbusters will be broadcast. Now that time is still a concern. “I’m willing to bet that we can get it going this way.”
Just like VI
Remco wants to make NPO 1 more event-driven. “At major channels, including NPO 1, it should revolve around programs that you can talk about with your neighbor the next day. That’s why Today Inside is doing so well; people are talking about it. That’s the philosophy.”
New programs are also being developed for that daily 9:30 PM time slot. “Think of major quizzes, music programs and reality.”
Bridget is bummed
Bridget Maasland finds it difficult. “What bothers me most of all: for example, you have your sports club on Monday evening, another club on Tuesday evening or then you go to the movies with your friends. You have organized your life and then you keep Thursday evening free or Sunday evening for Boerzoekt Vrouw. And now the whole week is all at once with television.”
Colleague Aran Bade responded to this RTL Boulevard: “Yes, you can’t go anywhere anymore!”
Bridget: “Yes, that’s not possible, is it?”
Kidnapped
Luuk Ikink understands his colleague Bridget. “You’re actually being kidnapped, aren’t you?”
Bridget: “Yes!”
Aran: “It comes from B&B Vol Liefde. They have looked at that. I understand what you mean. Overkill is lurking. If you get Heel Holland Bakt every evening, you also get a different dynamic. I think you are right: Saturday is for Wie is de Mol and Sunday for Heel Holland Bakt. You really sit down for that with the family, but every evening, you can’t manage that.”
Why daily?
Beau van Erven Dorens also responds critically. “Why daily? Then you have spent so much money on it and then you would say: a small snack every week?” he says in RTL Tonight.
Colleague Albert Verlinde does not think it is a strong decision. “But NPO 1 is in quite a bit of trouble at the moment. It has completely collapsed: half past eight is weakening and half past ten completely,” he says. “It is creative poverty.”
