The bridges on the Galileiweg near Werkendam are open again. The bridges had been closed since March 12, after a truck fell through one of the bridges. The cycling and walking routes in the Noordwaard are now fully accessible again, reports the municipality of Altena.

According to the municipality, the work would last until the end of May, but the repairs will be completed earlier than expected.

Truck removed from bridge after almost a week
A truck carrying animal feed got stuck in March on a bridge that is only intended for cyclists and walkers. The truck driver from Enschede drove onto the bridge because he was unfamiliar with the area and followed his navigation system. The bridge, which can carry a maximum weight of 2.5 tons, collapsed. It took almost a week for the truck to be removed from the bridge.

The damage to the bridges was extensive. Several bridges were damaged and had to be extensively checked and repaired where necessary.
