Brendan Fraser wins Oscar for Best Lead Actor in The Whale | Oscars

In The Whale Fraser, best known for the Mummy trilogy, plays an obese, reclusive teacher trying to reconnect with his teenage daughter. In his speech, the actor thanked director Darren Aronofsky for “throwing a lifeline for my career” to the actor.

The actor emotionally thanked everyone who contributed to his career “which was not always easy”. The other big contender for this statuette was actor Austin Butler, for the movie Elvis.
