Breitenreiter’s successor: Franco Foda takes over at FC Zurich

“Immediately had a great feeling”

After the departure of master coach André Breitenreiter, FC Zurich presented a successor in the direction of TSG Hoffenheim. Long-time Austrian national coach Franco Foda has been given a contract until June 2024. The Swiss club recently celebrated their first title since 2009. The 56-year-old Foda is supported by assistant coaches Thomas Kristl and Imre Szabics.

“In Franco Foda we were able to sign the coach we wanted. We are convinced that he will continue to develop the FCZ first team because of his personality and experience. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming cooperation,” said Zurich’s President Ancillo Canepa.

“After the good talks with the Canepa family and sporting director Marinko Jurendic, I immediately had a great feeling. The chemistry was right from the start and I am convinced that we can achieve a lot together. I’m really looking forward to the new task and we want to start another successful chapter with FC Zurich and develop the team further. It’s an honor for me to work for such a traditional club,” said Foda.
