With the arrest of a 54-year-old man from Goirle, according to the police, a long-term money laundering investigation has come to an end. The man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon at a police station in Breda and is seen as the last suspect in the case, the police said this Tuesday.
The 54-year-old man is in jail will remain stuck for at least fourteen days longer. The investigation is about money laundering of large sums of criminal money, the police report. The investigation started in 2022 when the police found that a certain passenger car with criminal money had been purchased. The car then led to other police raids again.
In September 2023, the police reported that during an integral action two suspects had been arrested in Tilburg and Goirle. There were also searches in buildings in Roosendaal. Later the police came into action again in December 2023 and June 2024.
Even then, several suspects were arrested and interrogated. In Tilburg even 350,000 euros in cash was found in June. Real estate, bank accounts, cryptotphones and cars of the suspects were also seized.

“In the meantime, the detectives discovered that tons of euros were laundered and that no taxes had been paid on expensive cars, such as a Landrover and a Lamborghini,” the police now write.
“Those cars were often settled in cash. The research team has since seized more than 1.5 million euros on assets of the adopted suspects.”
During searches in houses and companies of the suspects, ‘a few tons of cash and several expensive cars were seized, including a Lamborghini and a Mercedes’. ‘Firearms and ammunition, narcotic drugs and a false proof of identity’ were also found.
